Best DNA Test for Adoptees

As they have the largest DNA matches database, (23 MILLION as of Mar 2023) AncestryDNA is my top recommendation for the first place to DNA test if you are an adoptee or trying to find your biological parents through your DNA

AncestryDNA is affordable, and reliable and only requires you to do a simple “spit in the tube” test to collect your sample. After you have taken your AncestryDNA test, you will need to wait for a few days to a few weeks to receive your DNA results and your DNA match lists. After you receive your results you can upload the raw DNA data to MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, and Gedmatch.

It is possible that when you receive your results, the answers you were looking for will be obvious. In other cases, you will need to do some work to get the answer you seek. Learning the identity of your birth parents or a birth father requires some patience and skills in genealogy and genetic genealogy.
